ROAD ARE NOT PARTY ZONES

Roads are not party zones — keep your wits about you

Now that South Africa’s matriculants have finished their final school exams, thousands of young people will be heading towards various holiday destinations around the country to celebrate their newfound freedom. Many of these popular vacation spots are connected to the N3 Toll Route.

“Remember your road trip to and from your destination should be part of your holiday. Do not speed or take any unnecessary risks. Follow the rules of the road and please do not use your mobile devices while you’re driving,” asks Thania Dhoogra, chief operating officer of N3TC.

Human error including driver negligence, reckless driving and speeding, a loss of concentration, and driver distractions are some of the major causes of all crashes on the N3 Toll Route. These are all mistakes that can be avoided by careful planning, being prepared for any eventuality, staying informed of road and traffic conditions, and driving defensively.

N3TC asks you to have a safe and pleasant road trip, and to please share the road responsibly with other road users. Take care of your friends. Never let them drive high or drunk. Have fun but guard your future and return home safely.

24/7 help is available on the N3 Toll Route

Immediately report any problems on the N3 to the N3 Helpline on 0800 63 43 57. You can also tweet or DM us @N3Route on X.

“We are always here for you, so please save these contact details before you start out your journey. You never know when you may need it,” ends Ms Dhoogra.
